New Patio and Picnic Area

The new patio at St Drostan’s Lodge

As part of the ongoing improvement programme, a new patio has been laid at the entrance to the Lodge. This includes the creation of a raised bed behind the sleeper wall, to manage the slope, and add a new planting area.

Two picnic benches have been funded by a donation, in memory of Dorothy Mitchell of Monifieth, a keen walker who started staying at the Lodge in the 1990s. She visited St Drostans for almost 30 years, introducing friends and family to the beauty of Glen Esk.

The benches are made of recycled plastic milk bottles material, similar to the new church gates, and were produced by MARMAX of County Durham. We hope you soon have the opportunity to see, and use these new facilities.
